Lack of modern educational amenities in Practising School is a primary barrier for the student’s learning experience and teachers’ ability to deliver basic and quality education. Apart from basic classroom amenities such as blackboard, table , study desk and chairs, the school has very dated / dilapidated educational facilities. School is completely lacking laboratory equipment, library facilities, maths / geometry teaching aids, indoor and outdoor sports equipment, equipment for extracurricular activities such as band set etc.
The school runs classes from kindergarten to year 7 but is operating with only 4 active teachers and few unfilled vacant positions over a long period. Teachers are juggling multiple classes at a time with great difficulty. Besides, in absence of specialised teachers for computer, extracurricular and physical education etc. current teachers are handling even those roles with their limited time & skiils. This is a significant hindrance for the implementation of new school reforms, specialized curriculum or modernisation to be competitive with private schools.
Few alumni members and friends of Yongstar Cricket Club, Kumta have stepped in to address these challenges and contributed to install a new computer and printer, repaired of an old non-functional computer and donated indoor/ outdoor sports activity kit to rekindle enthusiasm and improving learning experience of students.
However, this is just a beginning and there is a long road ahead of us to improve necessary teaching infrastructure of the school. As alumni of this great school, we have taken a pledge to mobilise support from government and school community to bridge the educational equality gap for disadvantaged students and gradually improve the student enrolments needed for school development. Together all of us can make a positive difference to the lives of emerging new generation from this school and the surrounding region.
Therefore, we kindly request you to contribute with your precious time, energy, knowledge, resources, money and best of your abilities to fulfil this mission.
